To get the capybara sound, the sound engineer had to travel to a zoo and tickle a capybara
Synopsis
The cat is a solitary animal, but as his home is devastated by a major flood, he takes refuge on a ship inhabited by different species and will have to unite with them despite their differences. The team was very adamant that all the "voices" be made from real animals, so they recorded real animals for the film.
Before last year, I wasn’t really drawn to films without dialogue, as I found them somehow boring and pretentious
However, the real capybara sounds didn’t match the personality that the capybara character would have, so they used a baby camel for this one instead. This perception changed dramatically after I came across "Robot Dreams" at the Melbourne Film Festival last year, which quickly became my number one favorite film of all time.
The premise of the film is completely unique, unlike anything I’ve seen before, and brings a fresh, quirky twist to the genre
This experience opened my eyes to the potential depth and intrigue of dialogue-free storytelling."Flow" further solidified my appreciation for this style. This film is about a cat whose life is turned upside down by a major flood, leading to an unexpected and touching alliance with a diverse group of animals: a capybara, a bird, a lemur, and a dog.
Each character is created with distinct personality traits and characteristics that make them memorable and likable
What really stood out to me was the meticulous attention to detail in the depiction of each animal’s behavior and interactions between them. The filmmakers clearly conducted extensive research to ensure the authenticity of each species’ features, which translated into animations that are not only accurate, but also incredibly engaging.
