Synopsis
This documentary chronicles the lives of a group of young Egyptian girls from a very conservative small village in Upper Egypt who, despite family disapproval, form an all-female acting troupe. An excellent short film and documentary by Nada Riyadh & Ayman El Amir;In a remote village in Southern Egypt or Upper Egypt, a group of girls rebel against their families’ strict traditions by forming an all-female street theater troupe, but are ridiculed for it. The girls simply dream of becoming actresses, dancers, and singers like many Egyptian women in Lower Egypt, who challenge their own religious and conservative families with their unexpected performances. The short film was shot over a long four years to capture different periods in the lives of these girls, The Brink of Dreams follows them from childhood to womanhood, as they face the most important decisions of their lives.
